Michael D Christensen

TheatreWings Instructor / Prop Master / Assistant Technical Director.

This is Michael's sixth season with the Charleston Stage Company. He holds an Associate Degree in Technical Theater from Vincennes University and a Bachelor of Science in Technical Theater and Design from Ball State University. Michael has worked as the Prop Carpenter for Actors Theater of Louisville and Flat Rock Playhouse, and as the Prop Master at Williamstown Theater Festival and at New American Theater. Michael is an active member of the local stagehands union, IATSE and is doing his part to train new theater technicians as an instructor in the TheatreWings program at Charleston Stage Company. His set design work was seen onstage for the production of An Inspector Calls in the fall of 2005.

Stefanie P Christensen

TheatreWings Coordinator / Resident Scenic and Lighting Designer / Production Manager and Technical Director.

Stefanie is in her 6th season with Charleston Stage Company. Stefanie received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Design from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro were she worked as a graduate teaching assistant for undergraduate tech theatre classes. She has worked as a designer in theatres around the US from Lakes Region Musical Theatre in New Hampshire to Utah Musical Theatre. Stefanie is the Coordinator for Charleston Stage Company’s TheatreWings High School Apprentice Program as well as the Resident Scenic and Lighting Designer for Charleston Stage Company.

Marybeth Clark

Education Director / Associate Artistic Director

Marybeth is in her 8th season with Charleston Stage Company. She has a degree in theatre/performance from the University of South Florida. She has worked as an actor in professional theatres throughout the Southeast before settling in Charleston in 1994. Before joining Charleston Stage Company, she was a theatre instructor at the Charleston County School of the Arts for middle and high school. She currently oversees all Charleston Stage Company’s education programs, including Resident Acting Interns, after school classes and outreach workshops.

Barbara Young

TheatreWings Instructor / Costumer in Residence

Barbara is currently in her 24th season with Charleston Stage Company. She has a history degree from the College of Charleston and has taught public education in both Berkley and Charleston County Schools. Before coming to Charleston Stage, she was Youth Director for Martin Luther Church and taught Sunday school classes for all ages. Her original responsibilities at Charleston Stage included both Prop Master and Costume Designer. Currently she is teaching our Wings students all aspects of costuming a production, from design to storage.

Julian Wiles

Founder and Artistic Director

Julian Wiles is a director, playwright, scenic and lighting designer who has been delighting theatergoers with imagination and originality since he founded Charleston Stage in 1978. Wiles is credited with creating over a dozen original plays and adaptations for the company during its 29 year history, in addition to the 200 plays and musicals that have been produced under his direction.
